5 Sep 2025: Delhi,
Delhi’s two major transport centers continue working despite flood water problems as Yamuna river rises above danger mark. Kashmere Gate bus terminal and Yamuna Bank Metro Station face water troubles but keep serving passengers with some changes in services.
Bus Terminal Surrounded by Water But Still Working
The Kashmere Gate Inter-State Bus Terminal, one of North India’s busiest bus stations, is now surrounded by flood water. However, buses are still running from this important terminal that connects Delhi with Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.
On Thursday afternoon, the terminal was working but with fewer buses. On normal days, about 1,800 to 2,000 buses run from here. Now only 1,200 buses are operating. Services to Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Punjab have been reduced because of bad weather in mountain areas.
Safety Measures Keep Terminal Running
Officials from Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited said they were ready for the floods. After the 2023 flood, they put in water pumps and sandbags to stop water from coming in.
“Water entered the terminal late Wednesday night but was pumped out,” an official said.
Passengers can still buy tickets and use waiting areas. Some people said they took more time to find their buses, but everything else was working fine.
Metro Station Open But Roads Blocked
Yamuna Bank Metro Station faces a different problem. The station is working, but the road leading to it is full of water. People cannot reach the station by car, bus or on foot.
Delhi Metro made an announcement at 10:34 AM on Thursday telling passengers about the problem. Trains are still stopping at the station. People can change trains there if they come by metro, not by road. The Blue Line service between Noida and Vaishali continues without any problem.
Yamuna River Above Danger Level
The Yamuna river has been flowing above the danger level since earlier this week. This has caused water to collect in low areas and roads near the river. Traffic police are telling people to avoid these areas.
Both transport centers show how Delhi is managing the flood situation while keeping important services running for thousands of daily passengers.
