Delhi CM launches new initiative for NDMC schools

5 Sep 2025: New Delhi – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta started a new education program called “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi” for students in New Delhi Municipal Council schools on Thursday. The program will teach children about both modern development and Indian culture at the same time.

The Chief Minister launched this program at Talkatora Stadium. The new way of teaching will include yoga classes, learning from nature, and the old Indian teacher-student tradition. Students will also learn about taking care of the environment.

What Students Will Learn

The new program will teach students important life lessons along with their regular studies. Children will learn yoga to stay healthy and fit. They will spend time in nature to understand the environment better. The program also includes lessons from ancient Indian knowledge.

“Under the new curriculum, we are not only teaching development but also heritage – ensuring our students connect life values with cultural values and grow into great personalities for the nation,” said Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Vice Chairman of NDMC Kuljeet Singh Chahal explained that the program supports Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India. The new courses will include five important promises called Panch Pran, learning from nature, yoga, and Indian traditions.

Teachers Get Special Recognition

During the event, the Chief Minister gave awards to 15 teachers from Atal Adarsh and Navyug schools. These teachers got prizes for their good work in education. The government also released a special booklet that explains how this new teaching method will work.

Many important people attended the event. Delhi Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma, Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj, and NDMC Chairperson Keshav Chandra were present. School principals, teachers, and students also joined the program launch.

This new education plan aims to help students become better citizens who understand both modern progress and their cultural roots.
