US-based transporter under police lens for firing incident

5 Sep 2025: Lisbon – A United States-based businessman linked to gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi fired bullets at rival gang members outside a warehouse in Portugal on Wednesday. Randeep Malik, who runs a transport business in America, took responsibility for the shooting on Facebook and warned rivals to stop their illegal work.

Police in Lisbon are now investigating Malik after the shooting happened in Odivelas, Portugal. Delhi Police officers confirmed Thursday that international agencies have asked for information about Malik and his gang members.

Malik Wanted in Multiple Cases

Malik is already wanted by Delhi Police and the National Investigation Agency in more than six cases. These include sending threats to famous people and running extortion rackets. Police believe he helped plan the murder of gym owner Nadir Shah in Delhi’s Greater Kailash area last year.

In his Facebook post Wednesday, Malik wrote that he and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang carried out the Portugal shooting. He warned rival gang members Romi and Prince to stop their illegal activities or face more bullets.

First Major Indian Gang Incident in Europe

Delhi Police officials said this is the first time Indian criminal gang have caused major violence in Europe. Malik has been living in the United States for nearly 10 years and was briefly held by US Immigration last month before being released.

“We have already shared all inputs with the agencies. He is involved in planning two explosions outside popular clubs in Chandigarh in November 2024, including one owned by singer Badshah,” a police officer said.

Gang Network Remains Active

The Bishnoi gang continues to operate even though its leaders are in jail or hiding abroad. In December, gang member Hashim Baba told a court that Bishnoi, who is in Sabarmati jail, regularly talks to Malik by phone.

Malik’s family comes from Anchla Kalan village in Jind district. He has worked with the Bishnoi gang for almost 10 years, providing weapons and money for extortion from the United States.

The gang has also claimed responsibility for shootings outside homes of singers Gippy Grewal and AP Dhillon in Canada, and firing at comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada last month.

Police are now working with international agencies to track Malik’s activities and stop the gang’s operations across different countries.
