Chennai, 30 July 2025 – Tamil Nadu’s Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) has announced that the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Class 10 and Higher Secondary (HSE) +1 supplementary exam results will be released tomorrow, 31 July 2025 . Students who took the supplementary exams last month can check their scores on the official websites – tnresults.nic.in and dge.tn.gov.in – by entering their roll number and date of birth.
Who appeared for the exams and why
TN Supplementary Results 2025 supplementary (compartment) exams give students who did not clear one or more subjects in the March main exams another chance to pass without losing an academic year. This year, over nine lakh candidates registered for the SSLC exams, with 8,71,239 appearing and 8,17,261 passing. Boys accounted for 4,36,120 of those who sat for the exam, while 4,35,119 were girls; the pass numbers were 4,00,078 for boys and 4,17,183 for girls. One transgender student appeared and passed, maintaining a 100 per cent pass rate for transgender candidates. The overall pass percentage in the March SSLC exams was 93.80 per cent .
What happened in the supplementary exams
The Class 10 supplementary exams were held from 4 July 2025 to 10 July 2025 . Students sat papers in Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Tamil and English across thousands of exam centres. According to board officials, attendance was above 95 per cent , reflecting the importance of clearing the supplementary to secure promotions.
How to check your results
The DGE has outlined a simple process:
1. Visit the official results websites – tnresults.nic.in or dge.tn.gov.in .
2. Click on either “Class 10th SSLC Supplementary Result 2025” or “Class 11th HSE +1 Supplementary Result 2025”.
3. Enter your registration number and date of birth, plus the captcha code.
4. Submit to view your scorecard and download it for future reference.
Students should check the printed details carefully; any discrepancies must be reported to their school immediately. The original mark sheets will be distributed by respective schools in the coming weeks.
Why these results matter
Passing the supplementary exams allows students to progress to higher classes or qualify for university admissions without losing a year. Dr Rani Lakshmi, former director of school education in Tamil Nadu, told The Rising News , “The supplementary exams are a critical second chance. Students must remain calm and not view this as punishment. With proper guidance and self‑study, almost everyone can clear it.” Teachers have encouraged students to review the errors they made in the March exams and practise previous years’ papers.
What happens after you pass
Students who clear the SSLC supplementary exam can collect their revised mark sheet from their schools and apply for Class 11 admissions. Those who pass the HSE +1 exam will be allowed to continue into Class 12. If a student does not pass the supplementary, they may need to repeat the class or explore alternative pathways such as open schooling.
