The Yamuna river has been above danger marks for over four days, causing big problems in Delhi. The high water is making many areas flood and stopping the city's drains from working properly. This is making life hard for people in north and east Delhi.

Water Problems and Health Risks

The flooding has shut down a big water plant in Wazirabad for more than a day. This has stopped water supply in many parts of Delhi. The mix of dirty water and no clean water could make people sick. Doctors say diseases like diarrhea, typhoid, and dengue might spread. The flood water is not going away because the river is still very high. This is making many low areas near the river stay under water for a long time.

Old Drains and New Plans

Experts say Delhi's drains are very old and cannot handle so much water. The city has grown a lot since the drains were made in 1976. Now there are more people and more rain than before. The government is trying to make a new plan for drains, but it is taking a long time. They have only started work on one part of the city. Until the new drains are made, Delhi will keep having flood problems when it rains a lot.

We need to revive covered natural drains, connect stormwater drains to sewage treatment plants, and store floodwater for reuse

The government needs to speed up new drain plans to stop future floods. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
