IP University Pharmacy Admission: New with PCI Approval [ DPharm, BPharm, and MPharm]

NEW DELHI, July 14, 2024 – Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has received approval from the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) to introduce several new pharmacy courses for the upcoming academic year. The IP University Pharmacy Department will now offer diploma and degree programs in pharmacy to meet the growing need for trained professionals in the pharmaceutical industry.

IP University will offer three new Pharmacy Admission:

DPharm (Diploma in Pharmacy), BPharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy), and MPharm (Master of Pharmacy). These programs will be available in various specializations, including pharmaceutics, pharmacology, phytopharmacy and phytomedicine, and pharmaceutical chemistry. The courses will be managed by the Centre of Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences (CEPS) at GGSIPU, which already offers advanced programs like MSc in medicinal chemistry, drug design, and bioinformatics, as well as a PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry.

Importance of the IP University Pharmacy Courses

These new pharmacy courses at IP University are designed to enhance pharmacy education and provide students with practical experience using the latest industry equipment. The programs will offer a total of 220 seats: 60 for DPharm, 100 for BPharm, and 15 each for the MPharm specializations. This expansion aims to prepare students for the demands of the pharmaceutical sector.

Prof (Dr) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of GGSIPU, emphasized the benefits of the new courses, saying, “The unique teaching methods and industry-focused approach of CEPS will greatly benefit our students. This initiative will help bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry needs.”

How to Apply for the IP University Pharmacy ?

To apply for the new pharmacy courses at IP University, prospective students need to follow these steps:

  1. DPharm Program: Admissions will be based on Class 12 merit. Interested candidates should visit the IP University admissions portal and fill out the application form with their Class 12 details.
  2. BPharm Program: Priority will be given to applicants who clear the IPU-CET exam. Remaining seats will be offered to NEET qualifiers. Candidates should register for IPU-CET and submit their scores through the admissions portal.
  3. MPharm Program: Seats will first be offered to GPAT qualifiers, followed by CET applicants. Applicants should provide their GPAT scores or register for the CET through the university’s admissions website.
