The Delhi High Court has asked the government's religious committee to reconsider moving graves near Dargah Hazrat Bhoore Shah. This order came after Yusuf Baig, who says he takes care of the Dargah, filed a case about graves being destroyed in April 2023.
Court Asks for New Look at Grave Relocation
Justice Sachin Datta told the committee to think again about moving the graves. Baig said the graves were old and not on public paths. He wants 10 lakh rupees for the damage. The court had earlier asked different offices to check the place. The religious committee said the graves were in the way of the footpath. But the Waqf Board said the graves were on their land. Now the court wants the committee to look at all sides before deciding.
Waqf Board's Stand on the Matter
The Delhi Waqf Board said it did not have records of any rooms or buildings at the site. They called the committee's ideas practical. The board could not say for sure if the graves were in the way of the road. They said without a clear map, they could not argue against what the PWD said about the graves blocking the path. The court noted that the Waqf Board's view was different from before. So it asked the committee to look at everything again.
The religious committee must now review all sides and make a final decision. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
