Exam Details and Security Measures
The test is for hiring teachers for higher classes. It comes after a similar exam on September 7 for classes 9 and 10 teachers. The West Bengal School Service Commission is running these exams. They have put special marks on question papers to check cheating. Candidates must reach exam centers by 10 am, two hours before the test starts. No phones or electronic items are allowed inside.
Background of the Recruitment Drive
These new exams are happening because many teachers lost their jobs recently. The Supreme Court said the 2016 hiring process was not fair. So about 26,000 school staff had to leave their jobs. The court told the commission to make sure people who cheated earlier do not take the new test. The commission then made a list of 1,806 such people who cannot apply again. Around 2.46 lakh candidates are expected to appear for SSC exams on Sunday for the recruitment of assistant teachers for classes 11 and 12 in the West Bengal government-aided schools, officials said.
