The Delhi High Court has reserved interim orders on stopping the demolition of Signature View Apartments in Mukherjee Nagar. The court also held back on halting tenders for demolition and reconstruction. This happened during a hearing on Tuesday.
Court Reluctant to Stop Demolition
The court said it did not want to stop the demolition or tendering process. It said any delay would not help anyone. The judges promised residents that the new flats would be built safely under the court's watch. The court noted that tenders for rebuilding would not be issued until a plan was ready. It also said the plan would include building 168 flats.
Residents and DDA Present Their Cases
Residents said they were ready to leave their flats. But they asked the court to stop DDA from breaking down the buildings or asking for tenders. DDA asked the court to make residents leave as per an earlier order. This order said the buildings were unsafe to live in. DDA said it would keep paying rent with a yearly increase until new flats were given. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday reserved interim orders on whether to halt the demolition of Signature View Apartments in Mukherjee Nagar and the issuance of tenders for demolition and reconstruction, even as it expressed reluctance to stay the process, observing that any delay would serve no one’s interest….
The more the delay in reconstruction, the more it would increase the cost and also the rent… So any delay in the project is in nobody's interest. No stay on demolition.
The court will give its decision on the demolition and reconstruction of Signature View Apartments soon. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
