The Delhi government will start a Rs 50 crore skill program in 2025-26. It will train over 13,900 youth in Khadi, handloom and cottage industries.
Program Details and Goals
The Delhi Khadi and Village Industries Board will run the program with help from other groups. It aims to make old crafts into good jobs. Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said it will mix old methods with new digital and AI skills. This will help crafts stay useful in today's markets. The plan fits with Prime Minister Modi's idea of Atmanirbhar Bharat. At least 20% of trainees will get self-employment and 50% will get wage jobs.
Training and Support for Participants
Trainees will get Rs 400 per month for up to five months. They will also get certificates and help with loans. Courses include apparel work, IT help, logistics, tailoring, and Khadi fashion. There is also a 10-day course on business basics. Half the seats are for SC, ST, OBC, EWS groups and women. Some artisans will get free tools. Others will visit modern craft markets. Every Delhi district will have a training center.
