New Delhi, 12 August 2024 – The AIIMS doctors strike in Delhi has caused big traffic jams and problems in healthcare services. The strike, organized by Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA), is in response to the death of a female doctor in Kolkata RG Kar Medical College. This has made many doctors angry.

AIIMS Doctors Block Ring Road, Cause Traffic Jam

Routine outpatient department (OPD) services and elective surgeries have been suspended, with only emergency services remaining operational. At AIIMS, only patients with prior online appointments are being treated during morning OPD hours.

The AIIMS Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) is demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Kolkata incident and stronger laws to protect medical professionals from violence. This demand is central to their ongoing protest, as they seek justice for their deceased colleague and greater security in their work environments.

RML Hospital Cancels Leave Amid Strike

In response to the strike, hospital administrations have taken emergency measures to mitigate the impact on patient care. At RML Hospital, all faculty and consultant leave has been canceled, and senior doctors have been called back to duty to ensure the continuity of essential medical services.
