A 34-year-old man died from electric shock while working in an elevator shaft in Rohini Sector 21, Delhi. The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon in a four-storey building where the lift had not been working for over a month due to water problems.

Details of the Accident

Two workers, Imran and Vicky, were sent to fix the lift. They went into the lift base, which was full of water. They used a light bulb to see in the dark space. Suddenly, Imran got an electric shock. Vicky tried to help but also got shocked. Vicky managed to escape, but Imran could not get out and died. The police came after getting a call about the accident. They found Imran's body in the water at the bottom of the lift.

Police Investigation and Actions Taken

The police are looking for the contractor who sent the workers. He is missing right now. They have filed a case about death due to careless use of machines. The electricity was turned off so Imran's body could be taken out. It was sent to a hospital for checking. Vicky told the police he got a small shock but was able to run away. The police are trying to find out more about both workers.

Preliminary enquiry revealed that due to persistent seepage, water had been collecting in the lift base. The building's residents contacted a civil contractor, who deputed two labourers, Imran and Vicky, to check the leakage.
