The Central Empowered Committee has given clearance for tree work on Barapullah Phase-3 project. This allows the long-delayed project to move forward after almost 10 years of construction.

Tree Impact and Project Details

The project will affect 333 trees in total. In the central forest area, 10 trees will be cut, 34 moved, and 111 kept. In the south forest area, 75 trees will be cut, 53 moved, and 50 kept. The 3.5 km road will connect Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar Phase-1. It will have 3 lanes each way, cycle tracks, and footpaths. The project cost has gone up from 964 crore rupees to about 1,330 crore rupees due to delays.

Benefits and Timeline

The new road will reduce traffic on NH-24, DND Flyway, and Ring Road. It will connect to many transport hubs like Rapid Rail, railway station, and metro. The project will cut CO2 by about 2 tonnes per day. This is like planting 30,000 trees. PWD officials say 90% of the work is done. They will now start tree work and finish the remaining parts. The road should be ready within a year.

We will swiftly complete the remaining work and open Barapullah Phase-3 to the public, decongesting the NH-24-DND-Ring Road corridor while safeguarding the Yamuna floodplain.

PWD will now mark, prune, and move trees under forest department watch. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
