How the Theft Happened
The thief, Bhushan Verma, planned the theft by watching YouTube videos of religious events. He went to the puja pandal for two days to check things. On the day of theft, he dressed like other people at the event. He took the kalash when people were busy watching Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The kalash weighs 760 grams and has many precious stones on it.
How Police Caught the Thief
Police used CCTV footage to see the thief's face. They put his photo in a special computer program to find out who he was. They also tracked his phone. Police found out that Verma had stolen from another Jain event before. They caught him in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. Two other men who helped him sell the stolen items were also arrested. Police got back the stolen kalash and other gold items.
The man searches YouTube for religious events and knows that people use expensive utensils during these events.
