India has a long coastline of over 11,000 kilometers. One-third of it is at risk from erosion and extreme weather. About 250 million people live and work near the coast. The coast is home to 18,000 types of plants and animals. But the sea and coast face many problems like pollution, too much fishing, and damage to forests. Project Goals and Benefits

The new project will cost $212.64 million. It is part of a bigger $850 million program. The project will help Tamil Nadu and Karnataka take care of their coasts. It will train 100,000 people in new skills. About 70,000 people, including women, will learn about jobs in areas like eco-friendly tourism. The project will also protect 30,000 hectares of coastal land and sea.

India's Vision 2030 has recognized the potential of the blue economy to power its economic growth.
