New Delhi, 24 Sep 2025

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) hopes to declare Class 12 semester 1 exam results by October 31. The exams, which started on September 8 and ended on Monday, were the first semester-based state board exams for Class 12 in West Bengal.

New Exam Format and Timeline

About 6.6 lakh students took the exams using OMR sheets. This new format is a big change. The next semester exams will happen in February. The final ranking and grade of a student will be based on both semester results. WBCHSE president Chiranjib Bhattacharya said they are now checking over 38 lakh OMR sheets. He said festival holidays might slow down the work, but they still aim to publish results by October 31.

Changes in Question Paper Style

The new exam system has brought changes in how questions are asked. In semesters one and three, there are multiple-choice questions. These questions help students think and reason better. In semesters two and four, there will be short answer questions and development questions. This mix helps students keep their writing skills strong. The old yearly exam system, which started in 1978, had its last exam in March this year.

Over 38 lakh OMR sheets are being scanned. The publication of results might be delayed as there will be festival holidays in the next one month. But we are confident of publishing it by October 31.

Students and parents should keep checking the official WBCHSE website for updates on result declaration. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
