A river restoration project has been completed to improve the habitat in a beck area. The Environment Agency and Waveney Internal Drainage Board worked together to create a new meandering channel and remove old structures.

New Channel and Improved Access

The project made a new 350 meter long winding channel. This puts the river back in its old position. It helps water flow better when levels are low or high. The team also fixed part of Glebe Meadow downstream. They made it easier for people to reach the beck. About 150 meters of the channel was made better. They made the sides less steep and took out 2 old weirs that were not needed.

Benefits for Wildlife and River Health

The changes will help fish and small water animals by making more places for them to live. The project also lets sand and small rocks move downstream naturally. This is good for the river's health. A small, shallow pond was made to give more homes to insects like water beetles and dragonflies. The old channel was filled in, but they left some quiet water areas at both ends for animals to use.

The project was carefully planned to not increase flood risk in the area. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
