Why are doctors upset?

The state government told the Maharashtra Medical Council to register homoeopaths who did a one-year course in modern medicine. This will let them give allopathic medicines in some cases. Allopathic doctors are not happy with this decision. They say it is not safe for patients. The government made this rule on September 5. What will happen during the strike?

About 1.8 lakh allopathic doctors in Maharashtra will join the strike. It will start at 8 am on September 18 and last for 24 hours. Doctors from government and private hospitals will take part. But emergency services will still work. The doctors want the government to take back its decision. They say letting homoeopaths prescribe allopathic medicines can be risky for patients.

Our representatives met the chief minister on Wednesday and gave him a memorandum of our grievances.
