IIT Dhanbad has removed the mandatory attendance rule for students. Starting from 2025-26, students can take exams without meeting a minimum attendance requirement.
New Policy Gives Students More Freedom
The new rule applies to all students at IIT Dhanbad. This includes those studying for bachelors, masters and PhD degrees. Before this, students needed 75% attendance to take exams. Now, they will not be punished for low attendance. The change aims to let students spend more time on activities outside class. This includes joining technical and cultural clubs. The education minister supports relaxing attendance rules for top students.
The focus here is on clubs, as they help students build skills beyond the structured curriculum.
IIT Dhanbad will review the new policy after one term to see if it is helping students. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
