IIM Sambalpur has started its first undergraduate programs in Data Science & AI and Management & Public Policy. The inaugural batch of 178 students from over 20 states began classes on September 21, 2025 at the Sambalpur campus in Odisha.
New Programs and Student Intake
The institute launched two new programs – BS in Data Science & AI and BS in Management & Public Policy. The Data Science program has 88 students, with 69 boys and 19 girls. The Management program has 90 students, with 51 boys and 39 girls. Students come from many states like Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh. Admission Process and Academic Credentials
IIM Sambalpur used JEE Main 2025 scores for the Data Science program, with the highest rank being 44,645. The Management program used CUET UG 2025 scores, where top students got 99.80 percentile. The average Class 12 score was 90.5% for Data Science and 88.2% for Management students. IIM Sambalpur is the first IIM to use both JEE and CUET for admissions.
Prof Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, said the new programs aim to develop leaders in technology, policy, and society, while instilling values of integrity and responsibility.
