The Union Minister of State for Health opened the National Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory Conclave in Delhi today. The two-day event brings together scientists from 165 virus labs across India to discuss advances in medical research and diagnostics.
Minister praises labs for pandemic work
The minister thanked the labs for helping India during COVID-19. She said they found the virus type and checked nearly 1,700 test kits. Sixteen labs can now study very dangerous germs safely. The labs also found outbreaks of other diseases like Nipah and Zika early. Four new big labs are being built in different parts of India to be ready for future health problems.
New tools to fight TB and other diseases
The minister talked about new ways to find and treat TB in India. There are small X-ray machines that can go to villages. A computer program can check X-rays to find TB. There is also a new skin test for TB that costs only 199 rupees. A new treatment can cure 90 out of 100 people with hard-to-treat TB. The government is also working to stop sickle cell disease in tribal areas. They made a test for it that now costs only 28 rupees instead of 300.
From early detection of outbreaks to indigenous test validations, India is building a resilient, self-reliant, and globally relevant health research ecosystem.
The conclave will continue tomorrow to discuss more ways to improve India's ability to handle disease outbreaks. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
