A group of young students in Chennai are breaking Guinness World Records in hula hooping. Chennai Hoopers, a school started in 2018, has helped students win over 86 world records in this unique sport.
Students Find Joy in Hula Hooping
The school teaches kids from age 5 to adults up to 75 years old. Students practice for two hours in the morning and evening. Many have trained for six months before trying for records. The kids say hula hooping is fun. They enjoy learning new skills and performing at school events. Some want to become gymnasts or join international competitions.
Challenges and Growth in the Sport
Hula hooping has been around for a long time, but it is still not very common. Some boys stop after learning the basics due to rules in rhythmic gymnastics. But more people are getting interested in recent years. The teacher, Mrs Vijaylakshmi, says students who do hula hooping also do well in studies. They learn to work hard and stay focused.
