The Ministry of Education plans to add Artificial Intelligence to the school curriculum for all students from Class 3 onwards. This change will start from the next academic year 2026-27. The government is making a plan for how to teach AI in different classes.
CBSE Developing AI Framework
The Central Board of Secondary Education is working on a plan to teach AI in schools. They want to train over one crore teachers about AI. Some CBSE schools already teach AI as a skill subject from Class 6. In Classes 9-12, students can choose AI as an optional subject. The government wants to prepare both students and teachers for the digital world.
AI Impact on Jobs
A report by NITI Aayog talks about how AI will affect jobs. It says AI might replace about 20 lakh old jobs. But it could also create 80 lakh new jobs if we make the right plans. The report says India needs to act fast to be a leader in AI. It wants the government, companies, and schools to work together. This will help create more AI experts in India.
We need to move fast so that students and teachers are properly aligned with this technology over the next two to three years.
