The Asian Development Bank approved $135 million for Fiji's water security and ocean health. The project will upgrade a wastewater plant, improve water supply, and create a training center for Pacific water operators.

Wastewater Plant Upgrade to Help Ocean Health

The project will double the capacity of the Kinoya wastewater treatment plant in Suva. This will reduce pollution in Laucala Bay and help marine ecosystems recover. The upgrade will use new technologies that use less energy and cost less to run. It will help protect coastal areas like mangrove forests and coral reefs from pollution and climate change. Water Loss Reduction and Training Center

The project will also fund efforts to fix leaks in Suva's water pipes. This will save 10.5 million cubic meters of water each year and reduce carbon emissions. A new training center for water workers will be set up in Lautoka. This center will teach skills to people from Fiji and other Pacific islands to manage water and wastewater systems better.

The upgrade of Kinoya wastewater treatment plant will significantly improve ocean health and water quality in and around Laucala Bay.

The project is set to begin implementation soon. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
