Uttarakhand Governor has approved the Minority Education Bill, 2025. This bill will abolish the Madrasa Board and bring minority schools into the mainstream education system.

Changes for Minority Schools

From July 2026, all minority schools must follow the National Curriculum Framework and New Education Policy 2020. They will need to get approval from the Uttarakhand Minority Education Authority. The schools will also have to join the Uttarakhand Board of School Education. This makes Uttarakhand the first state to close its Madrasa Board. Goals of the New Law
