Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza after two years of war. The deal includes Hamas releasing 48 hostages and Israel freeing Palestinian prisoners, withdrawing troops, and allowing more aid into Gaza.

Details of the Ceasefire Agreement

The ceasefire started on Thursday. Israel will pull out its army from Gaza in the next 24 hours. Hamas will give back all 48 hostages they have, but only 20 are thought to be alive. Israel will free almost 2,000 Palestinians from jail. More food, water and other help will be allowed into Gaza through the UN and other groups. This deal came after talks in Egypt, with help from US President Trump.

Impact of the Long Conflict

The two-year war has caused much damage in Gaza. Tens of thousands of people have died. The fighting has made the whole Middle East area unsafe. Israel has lost support from many countries because of its harsh actions. The UN has called some of its attacks genocide. Hamas has also lost power after its violent attack on Israel in October 2023. Both sides are now weaker after choosing violence instead of talks.
