College admissions in West Bengal are very late this year. The state government will close the main admission website on October 10, 2025. Colleges can fill empty seats until November 7.

Why are admissions so late?

The admissions are late because of many problems. There was a fight in court about which groups can get special seats. Also, there was heavy rain in Bengal last month. The Durga Puja holidays made things slower too. Classes already started in August for some students. Now teachers will have to teach the same things again for new students who join late.

How does this affect students?

The delay is very bad for students. Many students got tired of waiting and joined colleges in other states. Poor students suffered a lot. Teachers say this late admission will make it hard to finish the course on time. The first semester should end in December, but now it will be very rushed. Some teachers think this will hurt the education of young people. The View From India Looking at World Affairs from the Indian perspective.
