The UEFA Champions League draw has been a topic of discussion recently due to the introduction of a new format and the announcement of the quarterfinals lineup.

New Draw Format

UEFA has announced that the Champions League draw will be partly automated next season. The precise format for the draw is still in the final development phase, but it will be a ‘hybrid’ event involving some manual drawing of balls and some automation. This change is due to the complexity of the new expanded Champions League format, which involves 36 teams and each team facing eight opponents. Trials showed that a manual draw would take anywhere between three and four hours, roughly the same length as the Oscars.

Quarterfinals Lineup

The 2023/24 UEFA Champions League quarterfinals lineup is almost complete. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, PSG, Arsenal, and Barcelona have confirmed their entry to the quarterfinal stage of UCL 2023-24. Two more teams from Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, PSV Eindhoven, and Atletico Madrid are set to join them in the next 12 hours for the draw.

What’s Next?
