Protesters Demand Changes in Recruitment Process

The protesters took part in recent State Level Selection Test exams. They want to remove the rule that gives 10 extra marks to teachers who lost jobs after a court order. These teachers are taking the new exams. The protesters say this rule is not fair to new candidates. They also want the government to share how many jobs are open in schools.

Job Loss and Recruitment Issues

The Supreme Court had ordered 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff to be removed from state-aided schools. This was because the 2016 hiring process was not proper. Now, non-teaching staff who lost jobs say they have no salary for six months. The job seekers want to meet the state education minister. They want to talk about their problems with the new hiring notice. A section of school job aspirants, who appeared for recent exams conducted by WBSSC, staged a demonstration in Salt Lake on the eastern fringes of Kolkata on Thursday, demanding fair recruitment in government-aided schools.
