MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, has arrived in Chennai to join the pre-season camp of his franchise ahead of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. Dhoni, who led CSK to their fifth IPL title last year, had earlier teased his fans with a cryptic post about a “new role” in the upcoming season.

Dhoni attends Ambani’s pre-wedding bash

Dhoni, who only plays in the IPL, was last seen in action in the final of the IPL 2023, where he scored an unbeaten 51 off 36 balls to guide CSK to a comfortable win over Gujarat Titans. Since then, he has been away from the limelight, spending time with his family and friends.

The 42-year-old was recently spotted at the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar, Gujarat, where he mingled with several celebrities and cricketers. He also posted a picture of himself with a caption that read, “Can’t wait for the new season and the new ‘role’. Stay tuned!”

Dhoni’s future and role in CSK

Dhoni’s post sparked a lot of speculation among his fans and followers, who wondered what he meant by the “new role”. Some speculated that he might retire from playing and take up a coaching or mentoring role in CSK, while others hoped that he would continue to lead the team on the field.

However, Dhoni has not clarified his plans for the future, and has kept everyone guessing. He has also not confirmed whether he will captain CSK in the IPL 2024, although it is widely expected that he will do so. Dhoni has been the face of CSK since the inception of the IPL, and has led them to five titles, eight finals, and 11 playoffs.

CSK’s preparations for IPL 2024

CSK are one of the most successful and consistent teams in the IPL, and will look to defend their title in the IPL 2024. They have retained most of their core players, such as Ravindra Jadeja, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Dwayne Bravo, and Sam Curran, and have also added some new faces, such as Jayden Bogle, Jakub Kiwior, and Kai Havertz.

CSK have started their pre-season camp in Chennai, where they will train and practice under the guidance of coach Stephen Fleming and other support staff. Dhoni will join the camp and share his experience and wisdom with the younger players, as well as fine-tune his own skills and fitness.

CSK will play their first match of the IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. They will then face Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next three matches. CSK will hope to start the season on a winning note and maintain their momentum throughout the tournament.
