The National Testing Agency will release JEE Main 2026 cutoffs for different categories. General category cutoff is expected to be 88-90 percentile, while reserved categories will have lower cutoffs. These cutoffs determine eligibility for JEE Advanced and admissions to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.
Expected Cutoffs for Different Categories
The expected JEE Main 2026 cutoffs vary by category. For General category, it is 88-90 percentile. OBC-NCL category cutoff may be 73-78 percentile. SC category cutoff is likely 55-60 percentile. For ST category, it could be 45-50 percentile. EWS category may have a cutoff close to General. PwD category usually has a very low cutoff of 1-2 percentile. These are qualifying cutoffs for JEE Advanced eligibility.
Admission Cutoffs and Counselling
Admission cutoffs for top NITs and IIITs are much higher than qualifying cutoffs. For Computer Science at NIT Trichy, General category rank needed is around 1000-1500. JoSAA conducts counselling for admissions. It releases final admission cutoffs after counselling rounds in June-July 2026.
