The Supreme Court has asked IIT Kharagpur and others to respond to a plea from a student. The student wants to transfer from IIT Kharagpur to IIT Delhi because of a health problem.
Court Asks for Replies
The Supreme Court judges have sent notices to IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, and AIIMS. They want answers by October 10, 2025. The student who asked for help is in the first year of a building design course. He has a mental health problem called Borderline Personality Disorder. The student says he needs special treatment that is only available in Delhi. He also needs to be near his parents for care.
Student Claims Unfair Treatment
The student says IIT Kharagpur did not allow him to move even though he followed all the rules. He says the school has let other students move for health reasons before. The student needs a special brain treatment that he can only get at AIIMS Delhi. He says not being able to move to Delhi stops him from getting important medical care. The student wants the court to make IIT Kharagpur and IIT Delhi look at his request again. He wants them to follow the rules for moving between IIT schools.
The concerned transfer rules applicable in cases like the present one clearly permit such transfers on medical grounds
The court will hear more about this case on October 10, 2025. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
