Why the delay happened
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities said exam bodies are not ready to use new technology. They want to protect the interests of disabled candidates. All public exams until December 31, 2025 will follow the old system. But candidates who want to use new tools to take exams on their own can ask for help. What the new rules were about
The government made new rules last month for disability exams. These rules were stricter about using helpers called scribes. Big exam bodies like UPSC and SSC had to make their own scribe pools in two years. The old system of candidates bringing their own scribes was to be stopped. This was done to stop cheating. The government wants to use more technology in exams.
All the competitive public examinations notified until and including December 31, 2025 may be conducted as per the system in vogue before issuing the said guidelines.
