The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has started admissions for its Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling for 2026. The course aims to improve skills of teachers and school staff in mental health and career guidance.
Course Details and Eligibility
The diploma course has three parts. First is six months of distance learning from January to June 2026. Then three months of face-to-face classes from July to September 2026. Last is a three-month internship from October to December 2026. Teachers, school staff, and people with degrees in psychology, education, or related fields can apply. They need at least 50% marks in their degree, with 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates.
Application Process and Fees
Interested people can apply online at ncert.nic.in by November 5. The fees are different for different groups. Government workers from central organizations pay Rs 19,500. State government workers pay Rs 6,000. Private candidates pay Rs 30,000. NCERT will select students through a test with essay writing and an interview. The course will run in New Delhi and five other cities. Each center can take 50 students.
