An 11-year-old student has gone to the Supreme Court to challenge Delhi's CM SHRI Schools admission policy. The policy makes students take a test to join Classes 6, 7, and 8, which the student says is against the law.

Why the student is upset

The student, Janmesh Sagar, says the test goes against Article 21-A of the Constitution. This article says all children should get free education. He also says it breaks a law called the RTE Act. This law says schools cannot use tests to choose students. Janmesh wanted to join a CM SHRI school but had to take a test on September 13, 2025.

What the student wants

Janmesh has asked the court to say that CM SHRI schools cannot use tests for admitting students. He wants the court to cancel the order that makes these tests necessary. Instead, he thinks schools should use a lottery to pick students. This means every child would have an equal chance to get in. Janmesh went straight to the Supreme Court because he thinks this is very important.
