IDP Education reports big drops in student enquiries for US and Canada. US study enquiries fell 46% in one year. Canada saw a 75% drop over two years.

Reasons for Decline in US and Canada Enquiries

The drop in US enquiries started before Trump became president. Visa approval rates went down after June. Election years often see lower visa approvals. For Canada, changes in the last two years affected interest. A dispute between Justin Trudeau and the Indian government started it. US tariffs also hit Canada hard. Canada limited post-study work to six streams, making students worry about job chances after study.

Other Countries See Steady Demand

UK and Australia still have good demand from students. Australia plans to increase student numbers by 9% this year. They want managed growth. IDP helps about 100,000 students study at over 800 universities worldwide each year. IDP has 73 offices in 63 Indian cities. People think that this is not the right time to go to Canada because they have limited the post-study work right also to only six streams and that is where a lot of students think that if they go and study something else, there is no post-study work and they will have to come back.
