Delhi University's Miranda House College started a new project on Saturday. It is called Recrafting history through the Indic lens. The project wants people to write about their family stories and local history.

What is the project about

The project wants to bring back the old way of writing family histories called Vanshavalis. It will have a big contest every year. People can write long essays about their family, community, or hometown. The essays should be at least 5000 words long. People have nine months to send their essays. Smart people who know a lot about Indian history will read the essays.

Why is this project important

Madhu Kishwar, who went to Miranda House, is giving money for this project. She says it will help people know more about their past. Many people today do not know much about their family history. This project will help them learn more. It is open to everyone, not just students. The project wants to collect many stories from different people. These stories will show a different side of history than what the British wrote.
