The Bihar government has announced interest-free loans for students who passed class 12 board exams. This change to the Student Credit Card Scheme aims to help students pursue higher education.

New Loan Terms and Repayment Options

Earlier, loans up to 4 lakh rupees had interest rates of 4% for general male students and 1% for female, differently-abled, and transgender students. Now, all loans will be interest-free. The government has also extended repayment periods. Loans up to 2 lakh rupees can now be repaid in 84 monthly installments instead of 60. For loans above 2 lakh rupees, the repayment time has increased from 84 to 120 monthly installments.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar shared these updates on social media. He said the goal is to make sure students can continue their studies after school.
