UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi finished a three-day visit to Myanmar on Thursday. He saw the bad effects of violence that have left millions of people without homes and in fear.
Grandi Meets Displaced People and Calls for Safety
Grandi talked to people who lost their homes in the March earthquake. He also met with people who had to leave their homes because of fighting. In the capital city, he asked for more help to reach these people. Grandi said millions of people in Myanmar are suffering a lot. They are scared of bombs, their homes being destroyed, and being forced to join armed groups. Many people have had to run away many times to stay safe.
UN Asks for More Help and Peace Talks
Grandi wants all sides to talk and find ways to help people go back home safely. He said this is very important for the Rohingya people. They have been attacked and forced to leave their homes. They have also not had basic rights for a long time. Grandi will go to a big meeting in New York soon. There, he will ask for more help from other countries to make it safe for people to go back to Myanmar. He also wants more money to help people in Myanmar and refugees in nearby countries.
The suffering of millions of people across Myanmar is immense. With aerial bombardments, destruction of property, and forced recruitment, they live in daily fear for their lives.
The UN and other groups are trying to help, but they cannot reach many areas. Follow The Rising News for more verified updates.
