Many Seats Empty in Different Categories
Most empty seats are for OBC students with 2,488 seats left. There are also 2,130 seats for general category students. SC and ST categories have 1,332 and 1,582 empty seats. EWS category has 1,359 seats left. Some colleges have hundreds of empty seats. But top colleges like Miranda House have very few empty seats. Problems with Admission Process
Teachers say the new way of admitting students is causing problems. The system is hard for many students to use. It is especially hard for students from poor backgrounds. Some students could not take the CUET exam or did not understand how to apply. Now the university is letting students apply with their board exam marks to fill empty seats.
The centralised allocation system is complicated and lacks transparency. Students from marginalised sections suffer the most under this system.
