4 Sep 2025: New Delhi, December 19, 2024 – Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the NIRF Rankings 2025 today, with Hindu College in Delhi taking the number one spot among colleges in India. The National Institutional Ranking Framework results show the best colleges and universities across the country based on their performance in teaching, research, and student outcomes.
Hindu College has beaten all other colleges to claim the top position this year. The rankings help students and parents choose the best colleges for higher education.
Top 10 Colleges in India
The complete list of top colleges includes both Delhi and Kolkata institutions taking most spots. Here are the top 10 colleges according to NIRF 2025:
1. Hindu College, Delhi 2. St. Stephen’s College, Delhi 3. Rama Krishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Kolkata 4. Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College, New Delhi 5. St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata 6. PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore 7. PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore
Delhi colleges have taken four spots in the top rankings while Kolkata has two colleges in the list. Coimbatore colleges from Tamil Nadu also made it to the top 10.
17 Different Ranking Categories This Year
The NIRF Rankings 2025 cover 17 different categories including Overall, Universities, Colleges, Research Institutions, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Dental, Law, Architecture, Agriculture, Innovation, Open University, Skill University, State Public University, and Sustainability.
The Ministry of Education set up a Core Committee to decide how to rank these institutes. They look at five main areas – teaching quality and resources, research work, graduation results, inclusivity, and public perception.
