A busy gateway with shops and food
The Dilli Gate in Ghaziabad has small shops on both sides. One side faces a big road called Grand Trunk Road. The other side looks at a small market street. There is a food shop called Bille di Hatti that sells chow mein. The walls of the gate have many posters. These posters talk about health cures and mobile phone classes.

This is not the only Dilli Gate outside old Delhi. There are Dilli Gates in other cities like Lahore, Ajmer, and Bharatpur. These gates got their name because they were ways to go to Delhi. The Ghaziabad Dilli Gate is more lively than the one in old Delhi. It is hard to know how old this gate is. But the bricks used to make it show it might be from the 19th or early 20th century. The pink gateway is flanked on each side by a small shop—Vikrant Generators and Sai Book Depot. The world’s no. 1 Dilli Gate, of course, is one of the four surviving gateways of the Walled City of Old Delhi. But this Dilli Gate is not in Delhi.
